Is it frozen at the moment? Are people curling on it?

I also seem to remember someone driving a Landrover onto the ice on Menteith last winter.

I recall the 'elf and safety' aspect was due to the surrounding area, parking and spectator & participant 'facilities' (i.e. toilets etc) rather than the thickness of the ice.

Seven inches required. 250 sheets. 8 curlers per sheet. 16 stones per sheet at about 30 lbs each. Piperdam looking good.

We had a Bonspiel yesterday. Five inches. Two sheets. Fantastic.

Grand Match looks a posssible. First since 1979.

And to you too. Mrs T and I walked over to the island and back last year on the lake the day before they announced no bonspiel. Wouldn't have missed it for anything.
Killjoys! I'm amazed they didn't rush me of the ice, disabled guy hobbling over ice - "we can't have that sir. For your own good etc." tongue out
