My car is literally falling apart
Discussion
I can't tell the size of that part, but does your clutch and/or brakes still work? It doesn't look too unlike a brake master cylinder push rod, but as you didn't slam straight into the car in front I'm guessing it isn't.
Throttle mechanism? heater mechanism?
I've currently got a Megane Expression (or whatever the estate version is called) - truly, horrible, horrible car. Falls to pieces around you. Doors and windows operate or don't operate at random. heater is blowing cold air on the feet due to a broken mechanism. I shall never own a Renault again, truly dreadful.
The only reason I've got it is because the previous owner gave up on it due to the crank pulley falling off after it had had the cam belt changed. The engine (1.5dci) has no timing marks and no keyways on the cam or crankshafts.
Horrible car.

Something hit you on your foot while you were driving?
Sorry, should have been clearer. It hit the top of my foot so I'm guessing it fell from the pedals / under the steering column.
Differnt car - however it looks like the same kind of thing, in the same kind of place, this is apparantly ROD A, and ROD B, and a Turnover spring *shrugs* dont know if that helps of not.
EDIT - This is the clutch assembly. So i guess the question is... Is there any spring in the clutch when you push it down?

All pedals seem to be working fine.

I agree about Renaults. I've got a collection of bits and pieces in the glove box that have dropped off over the last 5 years. Central locking is currently knackered, one door won't open at all, and one window won't open or close.
