2005 c class cdi keeps coming up with warning light oil is over filled.Car was serviced December 2009 was ok for the first nine months then came up with warning.Went to dealer and took some oil out has been ok until today when the warning came up again. Its booked into dealer again.Going to have oil and filter change any ideas why it keeps happening.

Possibly an oil level sensor fault.

While its in get them to run a 'quick test' with the Star Diagnostic and check it out for you, should bring up a fault code.

Most likely diesel diluting the oil and causing it to rise
Cause. Blocked DPF or faulty fuel pump.

Get it looked at as your oil will be like urine

It only seems to happen if the car is on a long run.

We have not topped the oil up from when it was serviced in December 09.

blocked dpf will put on eml light and cause lack of power
fuel pump can pump as much or as little as it wants the injectors/rail control the amount.

as toger13 said very rare that the oil lever senders fail, these engines dont come with dipsticks when serviced if there is just a tad to much oil put in the light will come on when engine is hot or you go round a corner, im sure its down to just a little to much oil
