CV builder/template

I was just wondering if anybody has used any good sites that help you create a CV? I used one a few years ago that is not running now but did indeed make it very easy to write a well laid out CV. I tried on the Careers Scotland website last night though it kept deleting all my information and have tried other sites just to spend hours working on it and find out you have to pay to print it. Any suggestions appreciated.

I used one from Monster. Was easy to use and worked first time.

ETA: this requires a Scribd signup. No cost involved though, and I had no problem saving, printing etc when done.

I searched the net until i found one i liked the design, layout and overall look of and changed the info.

Thanks for the suggestions folks. Never had much luck on Monster mainly due to problems with my own computer and opening certain types of files. If anybody else has any suggestions to add would be glad to hear them.

I too was in same situation a couple of month ago. I tried many websites too help from docstoc and scribd as well but couldn't find a suitable cv template. Later on my friend suggest me http://www.cvtemplate.net it has many templates and easy to find for any type of job, site too look simple but with gr8 information. I hope you will also like it.

If I can offer some general advice; whilst there are some cross-industry norms for layout, this is the least important issue with a CV. Of course a haphazard attempt littered with spelling mistakes, in mixed fonts, missing basic information is unlikely to create the impact you are looking for. But it is the content, how you articulate and evidence your current competencies, but even more important, how you seduce the employer by articulating what you may be able to do for them in the future. With so few words available, wordsmithing is key. Good luck!
