London Tunnel Run London?

PM Mrs Triple S - she, along with a few others controls access: http://pistonheads.com/gassing/profile.asp?memberI...
To join, you need to be a passenger with an existing member - or they be a passenger with you for your first run.

Really ?To join, you need to be a passenger with an existing member - or they be a passenger with you for your first run.
Those are the rules aren't they?
"Access Requests will be approved ONLY ONCE:
- The person requested has attended at least 1 Tunnel Run. They can attend as a driver or a passenger, but for obvious reasons it is fitting that they attend and make themselves known to an existing runner. There is then at least some sort of accountability."

Okay I understand the safety side of things so can someone invite me to become a passenger? All with experience & german V8's not looking for speed(our bikes have that side of things more than covered) all we're looking to do is make some noise, mainly out on the bikes but seeing as winters here so the cars are out, if I need to go through a verification process let me know & i'll do it

The London Tunnel Runs aren't open to the public I'm afraid, it just gets too dangerous and unwieldy with so many unknown drivers along.
How is it any more "dangerous" than any other run that's made public on here?Or is it just creating a bit of artificial notoriety and intrigue?

The danger comes with uninvited runners who want to tag along which would make the run very difficult to self police. (there have been times when it was open and over 250 cars turned up which was the catalyst to take it out of the public domain)
London has a maze of small streets and too many runners will just jam things up and mean the police will put a stop to things permanently
it's not a closed shop, just a case of a slower induction into the group to ensure everyone is comfortable with the informal rules which simply exist to ensure tunnel runs have longevity.
In the countryside things tend to be open and free flowing so there is less potential to cause those sorts of problems. Even then numbers tend to be limited (a la Jay's Kent runs) to ensure it is still manageable.
So please don't feel excluded, just bide your time, turn up to public meets and events to find out more.
There aren't that many runs and it's not a big secret club that noone else is allowed to join at all, just a case of filtering people in slowly.

Bikes tend not to come on runs for similar safety reasons, but if we're talking cars then PM me if you want and we can talk about a passenger invitation.Harsh said:
