Needing to have the valve springs changed on my fordy V6 lump but dont want just any monky playing with it, where is trusted for doing this type of work? engine will be out of the car and on a pallet.

Also need the name of a good machine shop who can lighten and balance the flywheel/clutch.

Thanks and have a Merry Xmas folks

There´s surely somewhere in the Aberdeen area, not driving to dundee with an engine in the boot. Any of you lads that do hillclimbs/rallys got engine builders they could put me in touch with?

The only places that spring to mind are Agra as previously mentioned, and Engine Resource, both in Dundee.

Falconers engineering in Blackburn will machine the flywheel. Jim King at Jim King Autotune in Lethenty just outside Inverurie would look after your engine.

can think of a few trusted garages to work on engines but limited when you say machine shop. Assuming most will sub some bits out.

First time ive heard anyone recomending agra. Im led to believe if you want a good job and an enginr to hold decent power they are not the ones to go to. Not from experience but from a few friends.

No reply yet from Ricky, Thanks for the other info guys ill call around, it doesn't need to be one place to do it all anyway, i will be taking off the gearbox, clutch and flywheel myself, take the engine to someone to put the upgraded valve springs in, then take the flywheel/outer clutch plate to be machined elsewhere.

As i understand its not rocket science to change the springs but i just want someone experienced to do it.

Cheers

Well its going to be over 500, lbft and bhp, so think ill go with one of the places around Aberdeen, again i see no advantage driving to Dundee when Aberdeen has an endless number of garages who are all probably capable of changing some valve springs. At the end of the day arnold clark ford could probably do as good a job having worked on ford V6 engines countless times wink

G,

Glad to see you're making plans to get that Noble working!!

I agree with Chapman that you would easily be able to take it on yourself. You can remove the engine from the car on your own after all, how hard can some wee springs be? wink

Hope the holi....sorry, 'work' is going well and you're not tanning too much.

See you upon your return!

Hey James,

yip it has simply got to be finished soon, cant handle seeing it sat away in the garage anymore! Im sure its not that hard a job but the thought of it going bag on start up scares me. smile

Ok doke chaps, will get cracking when im home and hopefully we can get it done in Jan, im home on the 10th.

With a bit of luck we can get a crowd together for a trip over, there are 20+ Nobles heading over to the ring in June and my aim is to join them.
