hi guys, im getting sky HD installed at my humble abode on the 31st of DEC, is their a particular HD box i should be asking for? i know some boxes were troublesome, i think i read the pace ones can cause issues, im hoping to befriend my sky installer and be able to pick the best of what he has on the van, so is their a particular make i should be gunning for?

Had an Amstrad for about 10 months now and it's been perfect, mind you it was the only ones he had on the van when we had it installed biggrin

When i was last fitting sky was just after the latest HD boxes had come out (The PVR5) and the only ones available at the time was made by Amstrad - Although i think Samsung ones may be available now but don't quote me on that.

I always prefered the samsung PVR4's - Or a Properly repaired Thomson. The amstrad PVR5's seem good though - I've never had any problems with mine and i didn't have any service calls for dodgy boxes for the few months i was working with the PVR5's - Where as with the previous generation i could get anywhere upto 10 dodgy boxes a day...!

Hi,
I just changed my hd box due to a variety of issues (Thomson version) to the new hd 1TB box (amstrad), and it's great, much faster and, touch wood, I haven't missed a programme yet......
I understand the 1tb boxes are all amstrad.
Cheers

I've had 2 Amstrads go wrong. One under warranty, and one after 15 months.
Pace and Panasonic - no issues.

Chances are you will get what you are given, the fitter will probably only have one type of box on his van.
