Does anyone have clues about these cars, their race specs and where they are today? Also about the team who managed the TVR entry to LM 62. Anecdotes, pics and any sort of info are welcome.

Thanks for your informations,

Chris

what do you mean....old pictures?

are those what you meant?

http://twoseatsorless.com/2010/01/possible-ex-work...

In a TVR book I have they talk about it too...
there were 3 cars built but only one car started the race (also one spare car and driver was Dutch Rob Slotemaker)

the book also says they have 3 axtra air intakes, a bit ala ferrari GTO as you also can see on the pictures.
but in spite of that they still overheat biggrin
its a race tuned MGA engine. (standard is 1.622cc MGA 1600 mark II unit)

and they talked about it here

you can also buy one...a scale model that is biggrin

I have the books Volume 1 and 2 TVRs collectors guide.

The picture posted above is of AUD 10 a car which I believe was owned by Arnold Burton and driven by John Woolfe. These pictures look to have been taken at Snetterton. This was not a Le Mans car.

The following, however is the car that started the race driven by Peter Bolton until it retired on its 3rd lap.

The Le Mans cars were MkIII pre-production cars with lightweight bodies and the new John Thurner chassis. Engines were 1622cc MGA blocks with the HRG crossflow head and twin webers.

The car Le Mans car YFR 751 was restored and owned by Ian Massey Crosse - not sure if he still owns it.

It might be worth asking on the Autosport forum. There are some freakishly knowledgable individuals there - it took me two posts to trace photos of a specific obscure 1940s Healey...

My father was Managing Director of TVR from 1955 to 1965 and went with my brother to the 1962 Le Mans race. My brother took a Super 8mm film of the race and the cars, a copy of which (in DVD format) was sent to the TVR car club a year or so ago. So much of the info you seek should be in there if they still have it. I may be able to respond to specific questions if the info on the film is not enough but try there first please.

Not a big deal, but I don't think that super 8 was released until 1965. So, most likely 8mm.

One of the Granturas is owned by Ian Bankhurst who sometimes pops up in PH. I know becuase hes invited me to race it in the Spa 6hrs with him this year!
