Ok, I know from the outset that sounds like a cardinal sin, but I would like a cheap and cheerful home cinema system/Surround sound/Speaker system for my Gaming experience.

I have my PS3 setup on a a two year old 42" Panasonic Plasma, and would just like to improve the sounds a bit.

Could anyone recommend a simple and cheap set up (in a box) that fits within my budget.

Any advice would be gratefully appreciated.

For under £100 try looking at something from Logitech - cheap and cheerful but should do the job nicely - X530 can be had for very little money.

Or... Go second hand and get some proper speakers/AV amp but expect to pay more than £100.

I'd go second hand every time - get over to AVForums to see how far your money goes.

Tesco / Comet etc have cheap 1 box systems from LG, Samsung etc.

e.g.

but I'd pay a bit more for one like this

If its just for gaming, why not buy a decent gaming headset? They all have surround sound in built, something like a turtle beach px21?

Liking the suggestions from comet etc, but now I'm liking the headphones idea.

Only one problem, and this might seem daft, but my ps3 and tv doesn't have a typical headphone socket, is there a way round this, & apologies if that's a dim question!

Cheers for your help

Don't worry about that mate, they connect straight to your ps3 via phono cables, I bought mine about a year ago and have converted another 5-6 people on thecomputer games forum to buy them. They do make a lot of difference, can hear people planting claymores across the map on call of duty, and from which direction. They also have a very good Mic integrated with them. You can also have the volume as loud as you like without annoying anyone else.
Sorry if it seems a bit jumbled, I'm in a rush.

I've used an X530 with my PC for 2 or 3 years now, no complaints at all, spot-on for gaming and not bad with music either. Can be had for under £60 including P&P.
