range rover p38
Discussion
Coilpacks are a known problem on all P38's worth getting someone with testbook to read the fault codes, but the Bosch enegined ones had a specific problem with the HT leads causing mifiring, was the subject of a recall if i remember correctly..
I'd replace them as a matter of course if they are more than a few years old, but like i say get the codes read first (you will need a RR specialist with testbook to do this) most generic fault code readers won't tell you anything usefull.
If you're keen on doing a few things yourself first then clean the MAF with carb cleaner and inspect the coil packs for damage they often visibly crack on the base of the unit and leak what looks like melted plastic when they die, you can feel this if you stick your hand underneath them..
