Disco 300 tdi used egine fitted but require some help please

Hi all, after 6 weeks I now have my 300 TDI engine fitted and running. It starts up great even in the freezing -10 temperature. However something is not quite right, it hasn't got the poke the old engine had. Its ok just but its not right. My other engine pulled quite nice untill 3k but now it wont.

The engine was complete with turbo (76k), so the question is how much boost do they run standard and could some one have detuned the pump or boost a bit for economy?? The other tel tale is when under full load at 1500 rpm there is no black smoke at all. The original engine which did 98k had always given a puff of black under full power at 1500 rpm.

So is it not getting enough fuel or is the boost too low??

The other issue which might be connected, when I rev engine at 1500 rpm approx standing still, the exhaust starts to smoke with unburnt fuel ( blue ish), paraffin /diesel smell. Not black or engine oil smoke?? Not very bad but bad enough. I cant see any smoke at all when driving.

Any ideas please ??

Try checking the rubber hoses near the turbo, one of mine had a small split in it, made the world of difference when i changed it.
