How many ESCOS owners are having or had corrosion issues.
I am looking out for one so an idea of the general condition of these 15-20 year old cars would be great.
Thanks
Frank

Around the fuel filler is common IIRC.

If its anything like my old standard escort which is now a 2 ft cubed square, I would say, chassis rails, wheel arches, sills, floors, inner wings. You might think that an escort cossie would be more cosseted, but this could shout its downfall as well, as cherishing owners may wash it more ofter, leaving water trapped in places and start rotting out places as well.

You'll find the ones that are left have been cosseted and shouldn't have any corrosion Issues especially the £15K + Cars.
Best places to start..

even the best examples have been known to have rot on them....

Places to look as follows

petrol tank filler neck area around the cap area on the rear quarter the small turbo has a filler flap to remove the issue so is particularly prone to big Turbo models

Look at rear arches

in the boot especially on the extension panels on the floor these are deleted now and originals no longer available

sills under skirt kit

front extension panels to the inner wing these are deleted now and originals no longer available

Boot lid under lower rear spoiler as water lays under it

also in the sunroof area if the drainage channels are blocked this is a rare one
