So very wrong chap. Point the vents at your fingers at quarter to three on the wheel and whack the heat up, there's a setting for fingers, toes and lap
It's that weird feeling, although my hands are being melted by the blowers they still feel 'strange'. A similar feeling to cleaning a car in cold weather and you come indoors afterwards.
I've often wondered what the perceived problem is with driving gloves?
For me, they don't seem to serve the purpose of keeping your hands warm when you get in the cold and then when the car's warm I can't see why you'd need them, but WHY do they have such a bad reputation?

PS I do have a pair of leather gloves that I drive in sometimes (heater vents aren't much use when the air they dispense is sub-zero), but they're fleece lined and not open backed so I suspect they don't really count...

Obviously they are not going to keep your hands as warm as say, fleece gloves for example, but a layer of leather, no matter how thin, will trap warm, moist air against your skin. They aren't heavy duty winter gloves, but they are better than nothing. More than once I've driven in fleece gloves until my heaters are blowing warm at hands on the wheels.
I bought myself a £8 pair of leather gloves from primark a month ago as the weather started to get freezing. Nothing wrong with using them. keep my hands warm, and stops it going numb from scraping ice of the windscreen, ontop of that it offers me grip on the steering wheel that wooly/cotton ones don't.
I highly recommend getting a pair. they're exactly the same as the basic leather gloves you get in other high street clothing shops, but they tend to cost £15-20
