Heater Box fixings + fan info

Spent most of Xmas Eve extracting the heater box, not easy on your own if you don't have 8ft arms with four elbows in each! Anyway I was wondering if anybody has changed from the nut and bolt fixings to some form of captive fastener to make it easier to re-fit (and remove in future if needed)or could suggest a fixing that might be worth a try.

Second question; I think somebody has mentioned changing the fan itself and resistor pack for one from an Escort, anybody have any more details on this?

You can get to (and remove) the fan and resistor pack by drilling out some of the rivets and cutting away the front of the heater box. Still requires considerable dexterity to remove the D clips holding the fan in place, but much simpler and quicker than going the dash route. Once you've replace the 1p spring,or whatever it was that had fallen off or broken, seal it up and off you go. Can't remember what Noble charge for a new box + fan, but £800 springs to mind.

Thanks guys, that covers it well. There's nothing wrong with the fan at the moment as I was just getting access to do the tunnel vent mod but thought whilst it's apart I might as well see if it was worth improving. I can't believe those little coils of wire hanging in the breeze can qualify as a resistor pack!
