Was wondering what recommendations the PH massive would have for a roll bar / cage for my MX5? I'll be planning on taking the car on track so I'm not looking at the style bars or non-functional items; should the worst happen, I'll need it to protect my bonce biggrin

I believe the HardDog bars are supposed to be very good - http://www.performance5.com/interior_rollbar.asp

Harddog have a good reputation but that top bar looks a bit flimsy to me?

TR Lane are raved about too. I've got a TR Lane bar (£325 fitted) and it seems nice, solid and well installed. (I think there is a pic in my profile)

The HardDog standard one does look a little flimsy, looks like the price escalates quite a bit with the other models.

Just noticed my chassis braces look identical to the TR Lane stuff, so might make sense to stick with them. £325 fitted sounds reasonable, guessing it's a ball ache to do yourself?

I've never fitted one, but it took Tim who makes them about 4 hours.

I've fitted a TR Lane one. 1/2 a day taking it easy (it was a tech day so there was lots going on).

I have a Hard Dog Deuce but if I was buying now I'd go for a TR Lane jobbie.

1/2 a day sounds worth a stab, will give the TR Lane one a go and hope the weather improves in January so I can fit!

Cheers for all your help guys.

That sounds like exactly what I'm after. How much would it cost and can you maintain your roof?

Quite a lot more than other options listed, about £1000 depending on options. As they are built to spec you can choose various door bar options, diagionals, harness bars etc which all effect price, but its a motorsport approved cage you end up with smile Oh and an MX5 thats stiffer than it would have been if it was a tin top coupe biggrin

Regards roof, I ditched the soft top so mines hard top only, you'd have to talk to to Nicksons about if it can be soft top friendly.

Not to be a TR Lane fanboy hehe but I know they are releasing a full cage in January which I believe is £595 + vat.

A full cage is tempting as I wouldn't mine having a stab at the Max5 championship in years to come, but I'm not sure about a bag of sand for one. Would be keen to see the TR one; when's it released and are there any pictures available?
