What do you think of these then?
Discussion
I didnt think it fair giving Docev1 criticism without posting a few of my recent efforts for rating
So what do you all think of these then?
Chesil Beach, Dorset. 28mm lens F22 Filters: linear polariser and red filter.
Erm. Its a duck I think ill try a tighter crop, but this is the original composition. 70-210mm lens, no filters.
God knows what this birds called! 70-210mm lens, no filters.
Its worth noting that this is the first time id used my polariser and its my first attempt at wildlife photography. Also, all of these have lost detail through scanning, which is a shame.

Is your mystery bird a golden pheasant?
Like the Chesil beach one. I've always loved the effect of red filters on a sky when shooting B&W.
The duck has nice reflections but you are right a tighter crop will improve matters.
A couple of mine from our recent break in Wales
1. Bullfinch
2. Lake Vrnwy (?sp)

Sorry to be a smertarse but the bird is a Chaffinch, not a Bullfinch.M.
The mystery bird is a Golden Pheasant.
Nice shots. The duck definitely needs cropping - the water's superb but the upper background detracts. The pheasant might be best cropped a little too.
The beach shot is nice but there's something not quite there with it. It mightbe that the image is a bit soft, or perhaps a bit dark. One of the nice things Iike with digital photography (presumably these were done on film?) is that you can apply filter effects afterwards and play with them. A slightly less red filter might have been better.
Nice pictures though

Nice pics guys, especially yours Luca!
My B&W one does indeed look far better in the original print - looks nice and sharp and a bit grainy (400ISO XP2 film) - the scan has softened it up rather. Likewise the duck, but it needs a tighter crop.
Thanks for the tips guys and also for identifying my mystery bird
