I am moving my batery to the boot and it did strike me if it was flat that would cause me an extra problem.

I have a 1999 car and have worked out how to get in to the cabin with a flat battery, and how to open the doors but not the boot.

The Steve Heath book tells me what to do but I do not have the magic cable in the place his book points to .

Can someone tell me of a fail safe way to open a boot , if I had a flat battery ?

Many thanks

David

Are you sure you don't have the cable? I had to have a good grope around before I found it on my Chim. Might the cable be on the other side? Mine is on the drivers side BTW.

I know "someone" who made a secret cable (universal bonnet pull or choke cables are ideal) that came through onto the cabin of their car. The knob was discretely positioned the theory was even if car was parked roof off it couldn't be seen and why would any one be looking for it if they didn't know it existed ?

my '97 has a way in to the boot that has nothing to do with cables but I cant say more on here. If you give whoever services it for you a call they are sure to be able to explain the procedure.

You really need to talk to someone who knows you and that you own a Chimaera Mike as you've only posted on here 3 times.

I suggest you either contact the garage who services the car for you, someone in your local TVRCC or the previous owner who may know what you are after and can advise you

It probably seems daft that we are careful protecting this information considering they are open top cars, but I'm sure you can understand our caution.

Guys

I understand your caution with secret info ! I am stuck and the garage that has been looking after my car in Shenfield (essex) has proven not to be very good with TVR's I spent £3000 over 3 months and each time i got it back it had a new problem so rather give them a wide birth from now !!
Not got enough fuel to get it more than about 20 miles so really desperate to get to the tank and fill up !!

Its been a disapointing start to TVR ownership but hoping after all the expense a fun summer ahead !!

Cheers

ETA Don't really think you want your mobby number on a public forum.

Strange place for a key !! (you will know what i mean)

Ordered a bike brake cable to cut down and replace.

Hi Chaps, my problem's the same. I know how to open the door and have found a bowden cable running from the boot lock, over the wheel arch, down the door frame and disappearing forward along the door sill. PM me please as to where it's likily to terminate. Cheers John042

I recently purchased my 1997 Chimaera and arrived today only to find a dead battery and not knowing how to access the boot manually, reading these forums it appears you are the man that may have an answer, please pm me, much appreciated

I'm afraid you aren't known to the community so probably won't get a reply. Contact the previous owner/Dealer you bought it from, they should be able to help.

if you are in canada the tvr community is quiet small yet very tight over there. the guy you purchased the car from should and will be able to tell you everything you need to know.
