any distance runners here? advice on chaffage please..
Discussion
i'm told that once you start distance running (half marathon in my case),leg chaffage becomes an issue and i was told i should look into wearing some cycling short type jobbies under my normal shorts..
is this standard procedure? i've never run more than 10k before and i'm beginning training for a half marathon in march soon so if they are usually worn i figure i should probably get some and get used to them as i build up my training..

They speak the truth,
I worked my way up to a regular 9 mile, 3 - 4 times a week, and I suffered chaffage on the insides of my legs. Resorted to vaseline (no puns please), but you can buy special cream or alternatively, cycling type shorts...just make sure they dont have the padded arse...

I run 40-50 miles a week, often 60+ and the odd marathon thrown in for good measure. I almost exclusively wear skin tight compression gear and avoid any problems as a result.
See how it goes though - with lower mileage/frequency you might be fine.
what are you forest gump?! that's both very impressive and insane.See how it goes though - with lower mileage/frequency you might be fine.

60+ miles per week is getting into serious runner territory. Many serious distance athletes aim at 100+ mpw, lifestyle permitting.2 solutions to chaffage (thighs and nipples!) - lycra shorts/tights or vaseline. Vaseline is my preference but I rarely suffer chaffage problems anyway.
