Change of Plan! Need to lose 16lbs in 4 weeks...
Discussion
To cut a long story short I may have had a £200 bet saying I could lose 16lbs by the 1st of February (yes, i was intoxicated)...
For those of you that don't know i managed to go from 123kgs to 72kgs in a calendar year but am now at around 84kgs (ideal weight around 80kgs). This extra weight is partly down to a lot of beer and christmas meals for the last month but I was going to get my weight back down anyway...
Anyhow what is the best way for me to go about this without compromising my strength too much as I was planning on getting in the last 3 months of the rugby season this year.
Bit of a rushed post (off to Bluewater, yay
) but advice please...
Btw, going against the bet isn't possible...

Just say you were pissed.
Do you really need £200 that badly?
Why compromise your health and training?
Erm, short answer is at the moment yes...Do you really need £200 that badly?
Why compromise your health and training?
I think the pissed route is the only way... Ain't worth starving for a month...

AIUI, 4lbs a week weight loss is unhealthy and could be detrimental to your health.
Contracts made whilst under the influence of drink are not generally enforceable.
Thank god...Contracts made whilst under the influence of drink are not generally enforceable.

To be honest I think 2 or 3 lbs a week is realistically possible without compromising anything too much, but 4 or 5 is going to be pushing it...
I think the deal was he had to do 30 pull ups in under 90 seconds, which i don't think will happen...

Depends. Can he do 25 now? If he can barely struggle with 10 full pull ups, then in 30 days I doubt he'll do 30 full pull ups in a row. You could also say by pull ups you mean palms away which is a lot harder. (Chin ups is palms facing.)Anyway, try not drinking any beer for a month.

Anyhow, the bet has now changed (think he realised that 30 pull ups wasn't happening). I have until easter to get a 6 pack, if I do it he pays for 6 months tax on the T5; If I lose I pay for his flights away to Kos this year...
So, I think laying off the beer is phase one of this... The excess calories im consuming cannot be helping...
So long as you've got a decent physique and strength already - just stick to your normal routine, and add 30mins to an hour of proper cardio (more if you already do a lot) 5 days a week. No more alcohol, healthy food only, in the same amounts as you'd usually eat to maintain, or slightly less.

Like i said, other than new years and a birthday it's a deal...Looks like it's low fat yoghurt and cottage cheese for a while...
Hello again haha!
In terms of losing the weight, that bit is easy but actually maintaining muscle mass whilst losing the weight will be your biggest challenge taking the gradual approach is clearly best but you know I didn't and ended up ok with it.
Do you know how much in KG or bf% you've got to lose?
Good luck!

I'm back with a new challenge. Things were going well until winning £700 combines with SAD meant i spent most of the last 6 weeks propping up a bar of some description...In terms of losing the weight, that bit is easy but actually maintaining muscle mass whilst losing the weight will be your biggest challenge taking the gradual approach is clearly best but you know I didn't and ended up ok with it.
