Managed to get the stainless water manifolds and silicone hose set fitted today, while i was at it i threaded the coolant sensor back through and started changing the dash and the bulbs etc, all was going pretty well until i found some broken led' and am now stuck as i cannot leave them now i have done all this work!
I have emailed a couple of breakers in the hope that they will have what im looking for unless somebody can point me in another direction?
I am looking for the central heater controls, i was in the middle of swapping the dash for a stainless one but the cold on/off doesnt seem to be working correctly and its an all in one unit connected to the pcb.
Also the ice light led has the three connections broken off so i need the small pcb with the led' attached for ice/main beam. It looks as if it has had a new dash at some point as some bits seem a bit bodged

That Ice light is one of the most annoying features, especially when your hovering around the temperature that triggers it as it keeps coming on and off! I'd leave it disconnected! lol

I have a brighter LED for the aircon which I might have a go at fitting. The a/c doesn't work so I need a visible indication of whether its on more than ever!

HiD conversion, 4 wheel alignment, new oil pressure relief spring, stop the bloody freezing air coming in onto my knees, and a wash and polish.

All joking aside, there is one job I'd like to get done. I realise for most of you chaps it's probably only a small one, but I need to get the heater control backplate off as the previous owner replaced the dash with an ally one, but never got round to match the backplate, so I still have the wooden looking one. OK, I have lived with it for almost 7 years, but every winter I tell myself I should get it done.

Knowing my DIY skills, can anyone give me an idiot's guide to removing the backplate, or failing that, anyone in or near Sussex fancy doing helping me take it off for the price of a cup of Rosy Lee and a share of a packet of jammy dodgers?

The whole drivers side inner wing is pressurised by ram air effect, more so the faster you go. You can’t block it off because it’s the supply to the cold side of the ventilation system for summer, I contemplated putting some kind of valve in there to shut it off when I wanted, but never got round to it.
The cold air comes out anywhere it can, the panel down in the right of the foot well comes off & tends to have some quite big gaps round it, I tried a few different things to seal the gaps up, they worked for a bit but the drafts always came back in the end. With a bit more care sealing the holes you may have more luck.

So why doesn't it affect the passenger side as well?

It's simply leaking cold air in from somewhere.

Finally put the new tax disc in that ran out in October buts been sat on the passenger seat since.

Just keep putting VPower in (£1.34 a litre now!)

Took the car Friday to meet Graeme Lowdon of Virgin Racing. Seems he has a 1961 Grantura

It might get a wash today as it's filthy again.
