Alloy wheel repair - Edinburgh or nearby
Discussion
I've managed to dent my 18" alloys on my A4 by driving into an pretty massive pothole in Edinburgh (which they were filling in this morning). The wheel looks generally fine on the outside but on the inside there are two diametrically opposite dents which are big enough to let the air out.
Does anyone have any idea of somewhere that might be able to fix this for less than a king's ransom?
Also, has anyone ever had any luck claiming from Edinburgh Council for pothole damage?

You'll never claim from the council - it's a myth. All they need to do is show that they have a system & schedule in place to maintain the roads for legal purposes. I know - I looked into it as the potholes on the A70 - & A71 beggar belief. You can get your alloy repaired - there is a place in Glasgow that does it (£65 - need it for 48 hours). I buckled an alloy, but as I rarely have the time to get these things done, I bought a new alloy on ebay and will send the wrecked one in by courier to get it fixed. I'll have to now, as I've buckled a second one........
.....waits for someone to post that they managed to claim......

No, didn't think I'd be able to claim but always worth asking.

I spent many happy dark evenings out the A70 and A71 testing out my dad's car after I had passed my test. The two corners at the far end of Harperrig were potentially lethal though.
well, I think I may have to suck it up and buy a new one. Unfortunately they are not the ones that came with the car so to get it to match won't be too cheap.
Glasgow is a bit of a trek for getting things repaired to be honest, and I try and avoid going there as much as possible. I found a place in Carnwath that will do it but its about £90.

I'm not sure what's changed (if anything), but 5 or so years ago I successfully claimed for a new Range Rover wheel from Edinburgh council. I did need witnesses and receipts, but I pulled it off after quite a faff......waits for someone to post that they managed to claim......
His name is Derek Hastings and is very good indeed!!

I forgot about the guy in Carnwath - he races an old Lotus Elan, I met him up at Knockhill a few years ago. I'll give him a bell as he's basically on my doorstep. Good work!
