Dunno, does that necessarily follow? Wouldn't it still cost a packet to have mobiles?

Looking at the news article in full you may have a point. It's funding for membership of the safety camera partnership that's been withdrawn and that covers cameras at 6x fixed, 6x mobile and (worryingly, cos I didn't know about these) 2x average sites within the city's boundary.

Future speed management is going to depend on those signs that flash when you approach them too fast.

Right; what can we do to get the buggers to have to make serious cut-backs?

Not sure, but when the 'camera scrapping' idea was banded around Hampshire and Wiltshire, Dorsets 'safety (lol) camera' team said, 'we will not be disarming any of our safety cameras, period!'. wkers!!

And (slightly off topic), has anyone noticed that the road past Hurn Airport is now a 30mph zone? It was a 60mph road until recently. Piss takers!!!

So what's this about average speed cams - that's got me a bit concerned. Well, for the next three months until they're scrapped smile

I guess they will loose a fortune from the camera opposite the old swimming baths as you leave Gun Wharf Quays, I know of lots of people who have been caught by that one...

30mph limits installed at Hurn in preparation for the traffic lights I believe.mad

That one has the distinction of earning Anne Robinson a short spell of walking, after pinging her at 43 mph and subsequently taking her points tally to 12.

I wasn't aware of that (I used to live in Bournemouth and work on the airport site and hence used to use the road daily!)!
That's a complete joke... well thought out as ever! rolleyes

I also got done by that one, back in 2003. Just one of those things really, simply forgot it was there. Having received the NIP I worked out that given that I'd just pulled out of Park Road, accelerated for a few seconds & then braked for the junction, I'd actually been over the limit for 4 seconds!
