URGENT HELP REQUIRED! Bonnet catch fiat punto.

Hi, I have been trying to get the bonnet open of my punto 1.2 active sport 53 plate open all morning! The cable has snapped and i have pulled it out from the inside of the car. I have tried and tried to operate the latch with a screwdriver/hammer with no luck, it appears impossible without breaking something?

Any ideas?
