No van section??
Im almost as passionate of vans as cars. Anyway, I'm considering a van. Would have to be very cheap, cheap to run, and be just big enough to get a dirtbike in. Would be used to get to the beach, the odd job to carry tools round in, just a work horse.

Whats the smallest van you can get a bike in. I like the transit connect but not sure its big enough??

any ideas.

Have you thought about something Like a Pug Partner/Citroen Berlingo Jobbie? I ran a 1.6HDI Partner but in Combi spec a few years ago when I was living on the farm and it did everything I threw at it and then some (also didn't have a drink problem either)

I think a berlingo would be too small. But yes i think they would make a great runaround.I'll havea look at dimensions to see if i could get a bike inside.
The larger fiat/peugeot/citroen twin slider would do it.

I used to have a Mk4 Astra van, that would take my bike no problem once I took the front wheel off. 2.0l td, quite economical even when pushing it, and comfy enough for long motorway cruises (overnight to Le Mans for example).

As a point of reference - you can get an R6 into a Hijet. Just.

Should be no more than about 8.5k (before VAT goes up) However I really wouldn't want to do any motorway mileage in it or get anyway rapidly.

0-60 - they are still waiting for the test driver to make it happen lol

With regards to the berlingo/partner, you might be surprised. We had to take all the seats out at one point (so taking it back to van routes) and managed to get a shetland pony and multiple bales of hay in it! (Emergency Vet situation with no time to get the trailer up and running)

Not cheap enough if the OP wants cheap cheap ,saying that the older 1.9 TD returns about the same mpg and would get my vote in doing everything the OP wants it to do.Just make sure you get the turbo version smile

Does your stretch to a Ford Transit Connect, one of them sounds ideal for what you want.

How cheap does cheap mean? Cheap to me is £500 but to you it might be £5000?

I had a Berlingo. Great van and very cheap but you won't get a bike in the back.

I reckon a dispatch/expert will be about the smallest van to suit. Cheap too.

Edit for frenchness
