Hi guys just thinking today we all must have projects that we would like to do, now i am not talking a full on e-type restoration but something to make to giggle like a child when you drive it. Now i have never been into cars that i buy just to please others, saying that have owned alot of fast jap nissan stuff but this is different. Two cars come to mind, 1st.........peugeot 406 coupe always thought these were very nice looking cars, my project would be to turbocharge the 2.0 16 valve engine and make it 4wd like a modernish T16, but running about 350-400 bhp but cant really think what rear axle to use on the car, the old 405 T16 and mi16 4x4 used a citroen type rear end with self leveling suspension, not my cup of tea, yeah you could use the rear axle from a sierra cossie ( albiet a heavily modified floor plan) but these rear ends give a kind of negative camber under hard acceleration and squat................any ideas guys. 2nd new shape volvo s40 t5 sport but 4wd, yes you do get these on the continent but sadly not here, running about 350 bhp with the plus point of that awesome 5cyl sound track. Both car would look standard as i aint into big bodykits and silly bling bling wheels. I would say neither are ott projects just need some hard graft and careful planning, what do you guys long to do

I've always fancied the idea of a split screen camper running a 993 engine and some suspension and brake work to make it go around corners and stop

I quite fancy building a super car killer from something mundane like a Kia Rio. Use the current model and basically get most of the internals from the skyline R34. Make it look standard from the outside but then have an RB26DETT and custom built drive train gear box etc. You would only be able to tell when you put your foot down.

good choice of engine luke but rebuilds on a rb26dett are circa 2-3000 pounds and thats with no trick bits or anything upgraded, thats when it starts getting really silly, having owned 3 r32 gtr s the fear of engine blow ups and extreme cost was always at the back of my mind. would pay to see a kia rio go with a stage one rb26dett in it

E30 estate with an E46 M3 engine.

Maybe one day when I've got a garage.

I used to have a Sierra shape P100 which i dropped 4" at the front and 8" at the rear and resprayed flint gray to match my Sierra Cosworth.
The one thing i really wanted to do was totally remove the roof, just leaving the screen. As i was using it everyday it wasn't very practial/secure.

Something like this, but not a shopping trolley. Maybe a Rollerskate.

We had one of these as a company vehicle main difference from standard was the addition of a 2.9 granada cosworth engine

I imagine it would be a sort of "i've just soiled my self" car. Cause the wheel base is a good bit shorter than the R34. One thing I would do is put the GTR badges on it. I could just imagine someone in something like a porsche thinking "look at that wa*ker with GTR badges on his kia." then put my foot down. :P Eventually I shall do it. Save up some money. Gotta finish high school and get a drivers licence first though. Another year to go. Thats one thing. I'd hate to imagine the insurance on it. And what would you insure it as? Kia Rio or Nissan Skyline. :P I think it would be a nissan dealer to service it though or a skyline specialist. "Sorry mate we don't do Kias" /me opens bonnet. "Ok maybe we do"

Chevy LS into Mk1 MX-5

Moggy 1000 with turbo'd MX-5 1.8 + running gear (suspension, gearbox etc etc)

Landy 109 restoration with coil springs and a 300Tdi

I'd say all of those are achievable.

Would love to get a Mk2 Golf GTI running a Fabia VRS lump. Plan to get another GTI next year (one that works this time) and the conversion could come later

In order of real worldness
Not so much an engine change, but a Smart Roadster, loss some weight, ditch the hateful electric power steering, improve the brakes and try and find a way to convert the gearbox (which I believe is actually a proper manual, just computer controlled) to full three pedal manual control.

Mazda MX5 with an excessive large V8.

Mazda MX5 with a 3 rotor turbo.

Mid engineed V8 Mini van.

Caterfield 7 with an F1 V10.

As a lover of 60's barges I've always fancied making the cars they could have made but didn't. Mk1V Zodiac 289,Viscount 350,Super Snipe 383 not in a Hot rod/custom style but in a similar way to when Rover created the P5b . The engines were available in house and the engineering would have been pretty straightfoward. On a more sensible, but probably more complicated front a 535d lump in an old e23 7 would make a great every day smoker.

I always wanted to get a Honda NSR 125 and put a CR500 motor in it.
Paint it up in Repsol NSR500 race paint and go hunting smile

I also fancied getting a Fiat X1/9 and making a rally car out of it using a Strato's for styling cues.

A nice supermotard is also on the list of things to do.
