Are they the same thing or separate? I have just paid £120 for a service as my car is 3 years old and I have recently bought it. I can't get Assist or connectedDrive to work and I was wondering if there was a separate subscription for both Assist and the concierge service respectively.

Cheers

Yes, they are both subscription services.

You should have a booklet in your BMW leatherette wallet explaining it all.

Waste of time/money on my Z4M, but there's more to it on the later iDrive models, so may be worth it.

Apparently if you want to use the breakdown option, then it is two subscriptions. Both parts should be active from the £120 subscription. That's what customer service have just told me. Still doesn't work though.

Simply that the older (non iDrive) versions don't have as many features as the DVD/HD iDrive versions have - such as local search, news, weather, itinerary planning, etc.

All the info for the latest version is here.

I got the remainder of the 3 year subscription when I purchased my Z4M, but when I complained about missing features BMW said that that was normal for my car (and the e46), and that later cars had more features. Yet nowhere in the ConnectedDrive Assist booklet did it mention this, and you'd pay (after the free period) the same amount for this limited service as someone else would for the full service.
