My girlfriend has started baking cakes however she has an issue where they form a puffy nipple when baking, is there any way of keeping the fairy cakes flat instead?

A google-search for 'puffy nipple' was interesting but didn't get me any help on cakes laugh

Cheers for any advice biggrin

a slightly safer search for 'fairy cakes nipple' turned up this thread...

Ah thanks! I tried searches for 'fairy cake bump / nipple etc' but couldn't find anything, I'll pass the info onto her thanks smile

I don't know how well that would work in a fan oven though - if I want flat topped cakes I just slice off as much as is needed smile

I love baking but have found my move to fan ovens a few years ago has been a real hindrance to getting best results.

When it comes to renewal time, I'll certainly be replacing one of the ovens with a non-fan unit.
