There is a row of bars and restaurants 1 street up from the top left corner of the square I remember a nice place back there.

LOL everywhere!

Tpoatersgat (The Poltergist) is fun, you have to climb down through the pavement

Brug Beirtje (The Bruge Bear) best beer pub you will ever go to

De Republik (the republic) very cool great atmosphere, more trendyt bar than a trad pub, try the Viven beer smile

Belgian people are cool so flag one down and ask where these places are, I spent most of ny time there drunk so don't know road names or get a guide.

I found a really good shop selling every type of beer known to man.

I think it was somewhere near a big square with a man stood on a podium dressed in only a tea towel.

Does that help? I was utterly plastered at the time.

My favourite, first time we went we ordered beer and cheese and then realised that you get a plate of cheese with every beer. We ate a lot of cheese that day lick

Just to correct you a bit:
Tpoatersgat (The Poltergist) is actually a phonetical writing of the dialect of "the monk's hole", in which "hole" means "place to be", of course. This of course because almost all beers are made in monasteries.

Anyway, if you come here, enjoy the beer, your (uk's) beers are nearly the only ones I like beside the Belgium ones, but I can honestly say we have some quality beer here!
If you're not familiar with Belgium beer, in brugge you should have a "Kwak", and in general you should try a "Duvel", "Leffe" or "Westmalle".*

I would never advise anyone to try them all on one evening though.

If you just want a normal beer, try "Stella", but "Jupiler" is also very refreshing.

Well, I am back, and it was great!!

Arrived at 5pm, few beers at the hotel then into town. Went with the flow, ended up in an Irish bar then had a fantastic dinner of a breaded cheesy starter, Flemish Stew and Chocolate Mousse, mmm!

Ended up propping up a few bars in and around Cathedraak (which was expensive!) including Ter Halle where we became DJ for the night! Was fantastic!

Anyway a great trip and crawled in at 6am with the city still in full flow. Great place can't wait to go back!!!
