Churches at night
Discussion
Whenever I drive past one of the churches in Aldershot or Guildford Cathedral at night they always look fabulous when all floodlit so I thought I'd have a go at taking some pictures. Couldn't get any of the Cathedral as there's nowhere to set up to take a photo.....and it was tipping it down with rain.
I managed to get a few of one of the churches in Aldershot, was playing in photoshop and made the picture black and white. I can't decide which picture I prefer though, a couple of friends think the B&W one is better and another friend think the colour one is better.......
Which do you prefer, any comments and do you have any good night time shots of your own?

I've always liked churches and medieval stuff lit up at night. The sharp contrasts and shadows often make them look more impressive than during the day.
Here's one I took in Modena, Italy last year. Since I didn't have a tripod I had to set the camera on a post I found so unfortunately I lost the top of the steeple. What do you expect for a newbie?

Graham, great shots as always. I love the warm amber lighting that we have on so many of our churches, so I'd go for the first shot. Like it in B&W too though, completely changes the feel of the shot.
And I'll chip in with this (I realize it needs a little PS work, but don't have time at the mo):

What settings did you chaps use for your low light pictures?
I can't adjust much on my camera, didn't know whether to have it on tungsten light or 'cloud', I tried them both and tungsten didn't look quite right.
The only other thing I can adjust was the EV which was +0.3 IIRC.
Oh, and longest shutter opening on 'supressed flash' setting.
