OK so I won a PS3 160GB, bog standard, no games etc. in the local pub raffle. I'm not much of an expert in gaming but I wouldn't mind getting a bit into it but I don't really know what other stuff I can do with it. So, do I......

a) Sell it and pocket the cash to put upwards a new car?
b) Send it back (have receipt) and upgrade it to the better one?
c) Keep it and get on with losing lots of cash and time to it?
d) Sell it and spunk the lot on coke and hookers?
e) Something else?

They do a lot of stuff you may not be aware of... Other than the obvious (it being a PS3), it is a blu-ray player, internet access, you can stream media through it, use i-player, 4od, 5 on demand etc etc etc

Connect it to a television and play games on it.

If the OP is new to these sort of things he is going to want the best he can get, why trade down?

I've just picked it up and it's sitting here in the box winking at me. I don't really want to open it if the general consensus is to send it back and upgrade to the 320gb version.........

Indeed, even if you don't want to play games, they make competent media attachments to your TV. If you can set up a media server from your PC you can stream movies, music etc to it, as well as being a Blu-ray player etc.

If you are curious about gaming on it, buy a couple cheaper games to see if you like it (as well as GT5, for obvious reasons), and have a play. They make excellent entertainment for a group of friends if you get enough controllers, as well as being good for playing alone.

If you aren't particularly into it at the moment you really don't need the 320gb. It took me 4 years to fill 120gb and I quite like my PS

Where is the general consensus on getting the 320gb?

160gb isn't exactly small... I never ran out of space on my 60gb launch model.

Same here, I have 15gb spare atm, and I've never tried to clear anything off it.
