was in the panasonic store in salisbury today and they have a sale on

they had a model TXP42X20 downn from 699.95 to 479.95

I just want to check is the one you guys recommend or is there a better one as i dont want to buy a dud, funds are tight so dont want to waste them

Typically it's the 42G20 being championed.
Without knowing what usage the TV is for, what's being connect immediately and planned in the short term, viewing distance, where it'll be placed, and absolute top budget, then recommending a specific sized model is rather pointless.

The X is the entry level model. It lacks a bunch of features that the G version has. Most significant is the contrast ratio - just 2000000:1 versus the G at 5000000:1 but to be fair that is sometimes hard to appreciate unless you put the two side by side. Also I don't believe it has built-in Freeview or Freesat tuners and neither is it full HD.

I'd find the extra £200 and go for the G!

We recently bought the TX42S20B which cost a little bit more than the X but less than the G as it doesn't feature viera CAST. Obviously it is not possible for me to say about the screen you are looking at but we are extremely pleased with ours. I am about to start a thread of experiences of LG screens to see what issues they have but I would now find it difficult to switch brands. The image quality and realistic colours are very nice rather than over sharp/over contrast.

Certainly go for a 1080p screen, well worth it when using blu-ray.
