Hi Guys,

I'm pretty interested in getting a 116234 with black face and diamonds on the hour points. Went to local watch shop and they have one on hold for me. They are willing to offer me a 10% discount, however I wonder if I should get one 2nd hand or can I get one at a better price?

I know that Rolex are going to raise there prices shortly and also VAT is going up.

What do you guys think?

Cheers

Sunil

That's not the sort of watch that would be particularly easy to source pre-owned.

Worth contacting Dominic to see what sort of a deal he can do you

Sunil,
If it makes you happy, buy it.

A bit of bling can be good,

So what if a few on here don`t like it.

As above far to many bandwagen jumpers who think if buying a watch it must be stanless and nothing else. I love my TT sub and woud'nt change it for the world.

Tell these guys you want the brightest, spangliest, big as a dinner plate, most bejewelled IWC and they'll suck up to you all day.

Buy a sparkly Rolex and they'll make cheap digs at your taste.

Cheap, wannabe, snobbishness at it worst.

Weird huh?

Have they seen Breitling in the wild? Panerai? Gaudy tat?

Even though you don't care (and I'm not trying to be difficult or arsey), that is truly & deeply fking 2nd hand car vendor horrid.
Have you ever considered something in Audi Silver? biggrin

TBF - I wouldn't even wear a gold wedding ring - for some reason it doesn't agree with me.

TBF I find when emersing my hands in line cleaner it tends to make dull anything which doesn't inspire

I think this bit of PH is generally populated by folk who like watches for what they are.

Some of the watches on display here scream 'More money than you'.

In real life I make assumptions about people sporting things like this before they open their mouth. I know it's wrong, but I do. I'd bet others do to, and I can't help but feel it's not to your advantage if you are in the business of 'dealbreaking'.

PH is full of people that assume that anyone that wears a gold Rolex is a tt. This is simply their own bigotry.

It's the derision by the many here of the taste of the better off that is flawed.

They, remember, aspire to much that is available only to those with money.

Breitlings entire range screams 'look at me', a Rolex DJ, even in gold with diamond markers, doesn't.

Don't buy a Porsche, Lamborghini, Ferrari, Benz, Bentley, Royce or even BMW ever. I mean ever. Because guess what tasteless people that come into a bit of money buy first? You wouldn't want to be a tasteless chav would you.

I think 10% seems lowish for what is a)traditionally not a great seller and b)likely to depreciate quicker than a used condom. I think diamond version dont hold value well at all.

So yep, second hand i reckon. Failing that surely at least 15% would be a viable discount.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for all the replies. I think that I might actually hold out and get one 2nd hand. Never bought a 2nd hand watch though!

However I have seen the same sort of watch going for under £3k.

Think I should be happy with what I've got already. However I do like the gold Sub, however it's a bit in your face.

Cheers

Sunil

Stick to your guns Sunil remember you're buying the watch for yourself not anyone else.

When purchasing my first Rolex i had my heart set on stainless but after seeing this in the shop i had to have it and im so glad i did.

Ps that was bought secondhand from a dealer and from now on i will only buy used. I have spent 2k+ on new watches and wished i had bought used after.
