Dash Top / Trim Removal

Hi All.
I have just been looking at removing the dash top leather and trim upholstery, from what I can see, am I right that the windscreen will have to come out, any advise welcome on this.

Have removed a Griff dash and usually they are retained by bolts screwed into the bulkhead from the inside of the car, screen stays in place.

Just had a look and it look like it is part of the body tub, no bolts or screws under side ?.

Update, well after poking with a screwdriver it is part of the tub and as the screen is also cracked solves that, just did not want to take the screen out just yet. was hoping to get a new screen but not with a green tint, so if anybody has a new screen with no tint or knows what vehicle TVR got them from.

You don't need to remove the screen to free the top part of the dash. There are 4 phillips head screws under the dash moulding which go through the tub and into captive nuts on the underside of the front lip of the dash moulding. You'll need a long screwdriver to undo these. Once these are out the dash moulding will (eventually!) come away from the tub. NB Although there are 4 screw holes, there may not necessarly be 4 screws. Remeber it is a TVR so if the bloke who built it didn't have 4 screws to hand it will only have the number he had in his pocket at the time!

looks like he had no screws when he did this, I have cut as much of the covering off and it is all molded into the side and where it meets the windscreen. This is on a 1988 S1, the side pillar leather looks like it is done before the screen went in. Back to Sq 1.

Mine's a V8S so could well be a differennt design to yours. I'm sure someone with an S1 will be along with the answer. Good luck with it. Joe

Hi All
Just an update on progress, Windscreen out in many pieces, no damage to body but TVR did fold the leather / vinyl into the back of the screen so when you glue the screen in it also glues the vinyl in as well, nice one TVR.
Just need a screen with no tint,

See this they do plain screens as well, but you might be out of your area but speak to Phil he couldnt be more helpful. Now the dash, S1&2 I believe the dash top is part of the body tub and is probably fixed by fibre glass, but why remove it? The vinyl trim is fitted prior to the screen and held in place by the screen, an other reason to get a specialist to remove thescreen and not damage the trim

Hi Norman,
I only want to re upholster the top and sides in another colour, I had to remove the screen as I had a slight accident with it, saying no more on that, its all out now so just need a new screen, not in a rush as I still have lots to do on the car.
