Hi peeps, I am about to change springs on front of the GTI-6 (as one failed)

Hit a problem already, on trying to undo nut on bolt that holds roll link to strut, the whole bolt seems to be rotating within the roll link, hence cannot get nut off....

any suggestions?

The threaded part sometimes has a allenkey hole in it which may work or sometimes there is a flat on the ball joint part. Either of these can stop it turning.
If it's really jammed, just slice the nut off with an angle grinder with a cutting disc. Replacement ARB droplinks are relatively cheap.

Sometimes if you clamp the link down tighter with a G-clamp or the like it grips better (it's a tapered stud) and the nut unwinds. Not always though!

drill 3 small holes in the nut 1 smack with a chisel in the off direction.
then spanner it off (larger spanner usually required) new nut job done

Jack the car up on the bottom of the link, that binds the joints with the friction and usually lets you get them off if you've cleaned/WD40'd the threads.
