I am thinking of changing my Linn Classik Movie, for a Bose Lifestyle something or other - probably a 35 (but used). The Classik is currently paired with a Linn Sizmik sub, and a pair of Castle Durham speakers. No surrounds fitted because I've been too lazy to cable them.

In my defence...

1) All of the existing stuff is a few years old.
2) This system is in the TV room
3) I can't remember the last time I listened to music on it
4) The DVD player doesn't work on the Classik, and the display is mangled - no idea how much the fix on this would cost.
5) Increasingly we spend our time in the kitchen where I have a Bose linked to the TV etc. It sounds ok at low volume which is all it ever gets played at.
6) I have a Linn system for listening to music in another room

So, the idea runs. Bin the Classik (or pick up a couple of hundred on Ebay for it more likely). Ditto the Castles. Move the Sizmik to the other room where it will enhance the system. And pick up a nice, neat, all in one Bose Lifestyle.

Any sense in this at all, or am I finally certifiable?

I have the Bose Acustomass 15 Series in my cinema. They were specified because the room is only 15ft square and there is no room for floorstanders. They look good because they're so small you hardly notice them but other than that I could not compare them with my Spendor's or any other proper speaker system I have bought.

If they aren't going to run above 10w per channel, then they are just background noise and as such will fit your bill. They don't give any sense or reward when you drive them harder they just get louder - bland sound. For what it's worth I wouldn't change them at all as long as my cinema stays in that room. They are very good for limited space but for audio quality they are, and always will be, a compromise.
