Sounds like the paint layer under your clear coat has faded (probably due to UV - left in the sun too long, etc). By using abrasive products you will remove the clear coat and the shiny will also go away.

You are probably looking at a complete respray to get it back to where you want it...

Try having the car professionally "Mopped" - bit like a T-cut, but uses different grades of cutting compound and a powered mop. Most bodyshops / valeters can do it.

MAKE SURE YOU TREAT THE PAINTWORK AFTERWARDS... sorry for shouting that, but the top layer of faded paint will have just been removed, make sure you protect the paint by at least waxing it, better yet a Supagard type finish.

Hope that helps

Good news you don't need a respray!! Bet your glad to hear that.

I would start off with a wash.

-Something like Meguiars NXT wash, wash mitt and two buckets.
One bucket for the wash solution the other to dunk the mitt in to reduce the risk of scratching the car.
-Next go buy the Deep Crystal Paint system Meguiars do, I can reccomend other polishes but they are a little more expensive.
-Quick Clay from Meguiars to remove any contaminents in the paintwork.

Ok so first

Wash
Clay
Dc stage 1
Dc stage 2
Dc stage 3

Your car should look much better, if some bits are tricky then try Meguiars scratch x or bodyscrub.

Good luck!!

All products can be bought at their site too.......
