Well I chose the D5000, now a kit bag....

A fellow D5000 user here. I also fancy a 50mm lens but the 1.4 is £300 and the 1.8 won't autofocus on the D5000. I'm starting to think about the 35mm 1.8 as an alternative but we shall see....
Anyway, that digression out the way, I'm using this bag.

There are better bags in terms of quick access to your gear but I like that this bag is also usable as a rucksack as well so you can take your sandwiches. It also doesn't look too much like a camera bag so you don't feel too uncomfortable carrying it around.

I picked up the D5000 twin lens kit today and plan to use my trusty old Tamrac Expedition 4 - I'd like to find some kind of "courier style" bag too though for those days where I want to take a drink and some sandwiches along too
Currently reading instructions and feeling too scared to press anything but hopefully that will pass.

? Don't be scared, I'm just flicking through settings and looking at the results. Just want it to be daylight, and take some pics now. Will go for some sort of larger rucksac style to hold everything and then a day bag I think.

Yes, Jessops, seemed like the best price and they had stock to collect - also gave me an excuse to leave the house and go for a drive to York.? Like you I'm craving some nice light so I can play, I think I've taken photos of most things in the house already and am impressed by low light performance.
Must stay off websites selling extras for a while though, so many "needs" out there
depends on what you wanna do.. sometimes you can get away with bringing your bag wherever in your car and then taking your camera out (with whatever lens) and just let it hang on your neck. for other stuff your going to want to bring everything (including your tripod) with you. then for some stuff a sling style of bag works best... I wouldn't make a recommendation unless i knew how you plan on using it.
I think im going to go for a crumpler full bag to travel with and keep in the car etc and with laptop, then just pull the camera out for day shoots, but the sling style bags look good too. Right now and future I cannot see me going out with tripod and full kit for specific shoot days, more have the camera in the bag along side other gear to be used if needed. Does that make sense?

There is so much choice it's very difficult to make a suggestion. You really need to look, buy, try and be prepared to consider getting more than one bag (for different types of use) or maybe changing a few times until you find what you want.

)I've got a couple of lowepro rucksacks that I like.
Have a look at http://www.cambags.com/ - if you select the type of bag you are after there are pictures of the bags loaded with kit so you can see what you'll fit in them. Quite a handy site!
The reason I've got two bags is I picked a small one to start with, which was fine, until I wanted to carry a tripod around.. its got no provision for holding one so I ended up getting another one that did. It actually works out well, because if I'm going out and I don't want all my stuff I take the small bag with camera & couple of lenses. Everything lives in my big bag, so if I'm off for the weekend or want to take the tripod I take that one.
Most rucksack types are ok, but whatever you buy ensure its small enough for hand luggage on planes..

Worth looking at Crumpler, I've got the Italian Connection and very well designed for lugging a DSLR and laptop about, with space for other goodies too.

Don't be put off by the prices on the Crumpler site, I paid much less than half what they are asking for the bag I bought.

Nothing other than future lens choices, and resale value, I could see the Pentax being worth very little s/h.. Still a damm good camera from all the reviews, and a bargain right now on PC world.As for a bag I think the crumpler will work for long term storage and travel, then find a sling pack somewhere too.
