Has anyone here got, or has anyone driven a 911 996 GT2.
Just wondering if they are as silly quick as I have read.
I might be getting the opportunity for a quick go in one soon, and am getting excited, so was just wondering how good they really are.

I recently bought a GT3 and the dealer also had a GT2 for sale which he let me have a brief drive in and it felt significantly faster than any other supercar I have driven previously and this includes a few Ferrari's,some of the quicker TVR's and it was also far quicker than the GT3 Clubsport I now own.

The 0-100 time is around 8.5 secs and believe me the GT2's straight line speed is organ rearrangingly quick! The only downside was the engine note which IMO is not a patch on the GT3. I think the GT2 will proberbly see off most normal supercars in a straight line and only hypercar stuff like the Careera GT, Enzo, Pagani Zonda etc are quicker.

If you decide to buy one, check out the brakes as the GT2 was the first Porsche model with ceramic brakes and these do not appear to stand up well to hard driving. I think some GT2 owners have replaced the ceramic brakes with standard steel items. Enjoy!

I had the good fortune/bad fortune to sit beside Don Palmer in a GT2 around bruntingthorpe....brutal is not the word!...very very fast especially when your oncoming view is through the side windows!

My brother has an 02 low mileage GT2 that he has just had chipped to 525 bhp, as standard it was very quick now, especially mid range, it is very very quick!

But he had a new 03 GT3 before this and I totally agree with Porschegeoff in that the GT3 is the better car. It sounds brill running up to the 8,000ish red line and drives fantastically, whereas the GT2 is quick bursts of rapid acceleration without the sound effects and just doesn't seem to drive as well.

I don't think my T350 can be beaten on punch for pounds and I love the individuality of TVR's, but his yellow GT3 was the only car that has made me seriously consider buying a different marque for quite some time.

On saying that a Sagaris will be next!

Hi

Did anyone here drive a Silver GT2 through Cambridge yesterday morning at about 0930h?

Certainly brightned up an otherwise dull cycle to Uni.
