Flat battery

Well after reading a thread on the another forum regarding leaving there batteries on a optimising trickle charger I thought I would take mine of charge today after a few weeks of being on and lone behold the battery is completely dead. Is it likely the battery can be recovered or is it best to just buy a new one? Was not impressed as the charger states it can be used long term.

i only ever leave mine on for a couple of days then its off for a few weeks before i pop it on again. Just buy a new battery, think there only 60 quid or something, i just had to pay 160 to replace the rs6 battery GUTTED!!

the cells sometimes warp during the winter as temperatures change. battery is pretty tricky to get to!

i always use a red top battery mounted behind passanger seat easy acess and compact [size of a motor bike battry] never had any issues i always trim battry box up with carpet to make it less visible

Thanks Paul that is ideal but probably to technical for a man of my calibre it will probably take me from dusk till Dawn just to change the standard one

For all my stored cars during winter time I use an OptiMate IV trickle charger ; costs only 50 £.

To install the charger connector : remove right rear wheel, remove side panel (the one that hides the ECU), connect lead to both poles.

Install panel back, put wheel back and from now on you can very easily connect the trickle charger to keep the battery topped up

Greg, holding you responsible for the fact that after reading your thread, today my alarm decided to go off for no reason, (I thought) until I tried to switch it off with the fobb and found my battery also as flat as a fart!!!! Now plugged the car back into the trickle charger.

will the optimate work the same as on tvr s plugged direct into the cigar lighter then wire out of top of window then lock up ?????? just a thought
