Very sad news. His performance in Sharpe as Obadiah Hawkswill simply oozed menace. RIP.

He was also good in Brassed Off, very young to go as well. RIP.

[Asterix]

Best actor in the world according to some bloke called Spielberg...

Rip

Obadiah Hakeswill

[Kaelic]

Watched him last night in The Town
Great actor and loved his Hakeswill just how I imagined him from the books

RIP

[hesnotthemessiah]

Wow! Can't quite believe it?

A great and very versatile actor. From Shakespeare and Period Drama with the likes of Romeo and Juliet and Sharpe to Fantasy Adventure stuff like Lost World Jurassic Park 2 (?) and Inception. He was good in The Usual Suspects as well.

[Streps]

Bugger

He will be missed not only as a local chap
But as a familiar face in a fair amount of films

I loved his narration of James and the giant peach growing up.

RIP.

As above, he was utterly awesome in Sharpe. A fine actor.

"Anything you do to me, is nothing compared to what Mr Soze will do to me if I do not carry out his instructions,"

Crazy accent, great performance, sad loss.

[stackmonkey]

Blooming brilliant actor

RIP

I was mazed when he made it big in America.
IIRC he was a BBC TV actor, and not someone who looked even remotely like he was going to the US
Superb in The Usual Suspects, and many others

His most memorable performance for me, was in a film shown on BBC called Coast to Coast. With Lenny Henry and John Shea. He was very good in that [1987]
If the BBC are thinking of a tribute, I can think of no better way. I used to have it VHS years ago.
