Is it me or are these a bit scarce now.
2 years ago they were 2 a penny, even the turbo was common mostly in trashed condition.
Now there is a turbo for £7900.
Was Scrapage responsible?

rust, failed mot, scrapped, traded in, accidents, etc, they were never the best built cars, steel used was a bit iffy...

DVLA figures earlier this year shows about 4000 unos left, of which about 200 turbos

there's been a definate decline in numbers over last 4 years or so, not really helped by mate and me cannabalising 5-6 cars to keep ours going biggrin

yep turbos are getting harder to find, but if you look in the right place:

Good Turbos are so hard to find now.
Wish I'd never sold mine.

My father in law brought one new in 1990 in red.
I still have it,still unmodified 67k miles.I have stored it now for the 7 years ive owned it.It will stay there for the next 10.I just run it up every few months and drive it up the road and back.

A mate of mine used to have one back in the 90s. I remember it being pretty fragile mechanically and the doors seemed to have comically thin metal. That's saying something as at the time I had a 205 GTI!! There are much better 90s hot hatches about IMHO.
