I'll try and keep this short and sweet. On 23rd December, I bought my ex out of her half of the house. I now own this house, and she's received full payment. I said she could stay temporarily, until her own house purchase went through.

Of course, little happens over the Christmas period, and her solicitors have been shut. However, it's now been nearly two weeks and nothing seems to be happening. When I asked my ex if she'd phone her solicitors in the morning to see how things were progressing, she started ranting about how she wouldn't do as I told her, how I was trying to "throw her out", and that she had rights and that I "can't throw her out."

Now I'm a reasonable man, but even the most reasonable man will eventually get fed up. I allowed her to stay here, rent free, for the sake of the children until she got her house sorted, but I feel so powerless that things are in her hands and she doesn't seem interested in moving things along. What are my options? Do I need to seek legal advice? I can't be having this going on for another month or more, I'll have a nervous breakdown.

Start charging her rent. That'll get her moving.

Er… aren't you being a bit impatient? Especially at this time of year, as you point out yourself.

That's where you went wrong. You sould have defined the term explicitly. Your 'temporary' is 2 weeks, her 'temporary' is 6 months...

Yes, there are two children, and they are mine. I will be having them 3 days a week when everything is sorted out.

My Ex lived in my house for 3 weeks with our 2 kids until she got a house sorted. It was strained but I knew she wanted lout as much as I wanted her out but it was still a relief when she finally left.
Good luck & please be patient for the sake of your kids.

Give her a chance to call them now that offices are back to normal.

She possibly went off on one because she is frustrated with the living situation as you, can't be easy for either of you frown

ETA - these are your kids?!?

FFS, you ought to be letting her & them stay until they CAN move out rolleyes

I could rehearse my rock band in your front room for a month or so?

Good luck with that one.

How many business days have there been in the last two weeks? And how many of those were just catch up days, etc. I'd say give it a week and then find out what's going on. have you thought about moving out while she gets it sorted, get her to pay for a hotel? As the settlement is all sorted there wouldn't be changing locks to worry about.
