My friends recently bought a flat that had previously been repossessed. All the storage heaters had a warning tape on with stickers saying to get a professional in.

Now all these heaters are wired into the wall with an independent switch. The house has two fuse boards which I've checked have all been tunred on.

What I wanted to ask is, is there an easy way to get these heaters working again, or do I actually need to get an electrician in turn them back on.

(PS. I don't think the property is connected on Economy 7 tariff yet - would this make a different.)

Thanks

The heaters are very simple. Two fuse boards implies Economy7 and that would go hand in hand with storage heaters. I would recommend getting an electrician in; he can test the heaters and the electrical circuits, do any works necessary and sign the system off as tested / repaired. Don't cut corners with electrics, get a professional in and get some peace of mind.

Someones put the tape on there to cover their ass, that doesn't happen very often in the electric world so with no further info to go on I'd have it checked out... actually a proper electrical inspection is highly avisable on moving into a new home.

The stickers are on the heaters. What does an electric storage heater have to do with water or boilers?

hi

Client spec we dont get paid until all warning stickers have been placed and if we miss any call back. So stickers are placed even if not aplicable to the type of heater.

So you put 'Do Not Use' stickers on everything regardless of whether they work or not and are safe or not?

I could do that. What's the rate?

Remember it's better to buy a repossessed property than one merely possessed.
