i,

I have an issue with my sat set up here.

Currently the set up is as follows:

1x 43cm Mini Dish
1x Quad LNB

2x CT63 runs - one going to a Thomson Sky+ STB (this one is working OK), one going to an Amstrad Sky HD STB (the problematic STB).

I'm seeing that I'm losing reception at night (only noticed issue at night so far) of the following:

History
History +1
Military

NHK World TV
Al Jazeera English
Russia Today

Rush HD
NME TV

Some research on Lyngsat has shown these to be all on transponders on the Eurobird steerable beam at 28.5 and a mix of horizontal and vertical polarity.

This issue is only affecting the Amstrad Sky HD STB. The Thomson is working OK. I've tested the Amstrad using the feed to the Thomson and all these channels are working OK. This rules out the STB as the issue.

I'm thinking that this is possibly the LNB/cable (likely the LNB) at fault. Anyone got any suggestions?

Cheers,

Mike

I had a problem with my Sky HD box losing groups of channels. The input signals appeared low, so I thought it was the LNB, but it was actually the power supply board in the Sky box itself causing the issue. It's a well known problem with the PSU and you can even buy a kit to refurb the board - http://www.satcure.co.uk/accs/page12.htm

Remove the top cover and check to see if there are any 'bulging' capacitors on the small power supply board. Mine were pretty much all bad, so I bought the cap kit and replaced all of the caps myself. I used to work in this field many years ago, so it was fun to get my hands on a soldering iron again. If you don't fancy doing it yourself, you can just exchange yours for a refurbed board.

Cheers Webber3.

Think it's likely the dish is slightly out of alignment now though so will get that checked.

I had the Thomson STB open the other day (hdd went), all caps on it look OK (the HD box is an Amstrad).
