La Ferte Bernard vs Alencon

There are only a few hotels in Alencon and LFB and I've always found that they are impossible to book up direct as they are all taken years ahead by the ticket agencies, so the only way to get rooms there or anywhere else close to the circuit is via ticket agencies and taking their full package of crossing, hotel, circuit tickets etc.
When we went to our first Le Mans in 1996 my son and I stayed at a hotel in La Ferte Bernard. We've been nearly every year since and regularly stayed in a hotel in Alencon, mostly because Alencon is a bit easier to get to from our UK base. On these occasions we've always had to use ticket agencies for the full package, covering ferry crossing,hotel and circuit tickets.
Both are about the same distance from the circuit, although we think that coming to the circuit from Alencon and knowing how to get there taking local roads rather than the direct route is better than from LFB.
In recent years we've done things a bit differently. I've joined the ACO and so I can get advance access to all our circuit ticketing needs. We've used a hotel several miles further out than Alencon or LFB, beyond ticket agencies's interest as it were. This gives us a reasonable selection and good prices BUT leaves us with a long drive in to Le Mans. So, we now sleep in the car in the car park on the Saturday night which is fine with us and avoids all the traffic in the vicinity once parked up.
So, I think that you'll end up using an agency for hotels within easy reach of the circuit, or be prepared to travel some distance to the circuit if you DIY.

I'm from le mans, and the better place between la Ferté and alençon for sleeping, is la Ferté bernard.
It' s easier to go tole mans by the higway (40mn) and by the train it 's only half a hour, at le mans there 's a tram to go to the racetrack .
