Partial Solar eclipse

Well I had plans to shoot the solar eclipse as the pic a day.

I did see a partial solar eclipse - it was partially obscured by the clouds here in the South East.

On an aside - what settings are recommended for this type of shot ? I had a polariser on, with min aperture and fast shutter (f36 + 1/2000) but as usual I was just farting around firing shots until something seemed to work

Nope, everything was fully eclipsed by the blanket of fog this morning!

It was virtually over by the time the sun rose over the hills. However it did cause some weird shadows in the sky.

I like that Mr Dibbly.

You can almost make out the complete diameter of the moon and has a sense of scale to it.

Best I could get from a ship in the middle of the North Sea. Sky was totally socked in, then a gap in the thick clouds gave this misty view. tried a few different exposures but this was as good as I got

Andrew - nice sky, although could you not have got up early and climbed a mountain to get a better view ?!
