What Camera Help Required

Newbie to this section of PH, so Hello to everyone and please be gentle with me !!!!
I currently have a 2 yr old £70 point and shoot Sony digital camera but I am now looking for something a bit better as we have a 9 month old baby and we keep missing good photos as the camera is so slow.
I was passing a local Jessops this morning and they recommended this http://www.jessops.com/online.store/products/77155... but I dont know how good it is for my needs or if they are just selling me something they have lots of stock of.
Any thoughts or recommendations ???
