Before I plunge in and make a purchase I wondered if the might of PH could advise. We are having a place renovated, 3 bathrooms fed via a megaflow. I want to include a softener and have been advise to get this one:

And to add a three way tap and filter in to the kitchen.

Anything I should know?

Firstly I would be very aware of the flow requirements of an unvented cylinder. I'd recommend avoiding one below 25 lires a minute, or so, and some softeners (despite claims of hi-flo and 'unvented supply kits) don't flow this.

I'd also go for a more common electric powered softener, since they are much cheaper and simpler to get parts for. We USED to get problems with the non-electric softeners being unable to read small demands like ballvalves...although they may have improved.

I tend to fit Waterside MC350s and plumb them in hard, rather than hoses, to keep the flow up.

3-way taps are OK, but they are expensive to buy and replace parts on. Do you NEED soft water on the sink?? Many people don't bother. Are you washing up in it?

I hadn't thought about the 'need' for soft water, more the need to have non softened water. So a straight forward tap with a direct supply for the kitchen sink. I will check out the Waterside MC350 right now. Many thanks.
