Which docking station?
Discussion
Hi, I'm on the hunt for a new docking station for my iPod classic. Ideally looking to pay around £300 so I'm looking for some recommendations. It will be replacing my stereo in the living room so needs to be quite loud to fill room and also a nice size to take the space of my stereo.
I've heard excellent reports on the bowers and wilkins Zeppelin. This is around £400 but is it worth the extra money over other alternatives?

We were in a similar position recently and went to the local stereo specialist to try a few out - Bose Sounddock, B&W Zeppelin, B&O Beosound 8, Geneva S2, Cambridge Audio One etc etc etc.
The Zeppelin was our second choice - nice warm sound and could really fill a room.
We ended up choosing the B&O system. Looks great and the sound (for us) is truely magnificent. There is a switch on the back to change to different room scenarios (standalone, hanging on a wall, placed in a corner) which in turn gives slightly less bass and more treble for each scenario accordingly.
It is also the only one that could take an iPad - which was important for us.
Go to a shop and have a listen to a few - choose the one you like.

Add the Vita Audio R2i (£280-£300 depending on finish) to your audition list if you're looking for an all-in-one system. Depends on the size of the room as to whether it will offer truly room-filling sound I guess, but I can't imagine it would be any worse than the other similar systems.

Thanks for the reply, some great systems you mentioned there, but isn't the Beowolf 8 over £800
Unfortunately it's not cheap so doesn't meet your requirements on price - but if you can see past the price and splurge you won't regret it.I didn't until the radiator on my car went pop this morning . . . . .

I've just got my BeoSound 8 too. Sounds fantastic and looks great.... in fact, looks to me like Mrs xPOW leaning against the shower door The Zeppelin was our second choice - nice warm sound and could really fill a room.

Well, I went to listen to the BeoSound 8 and the Geneva L in the same store. The B&O system looks better and in a smaller area would be perfect but the Geneva L wins! Both retail around the same price although the stand for the Geneva is an extra £150.
The good news is, the store only has 3 Geneva's and will not be getting any more (they are B&O franchise, had the Geneva in stock because B&O didn't offer a dock system before) so I got it for a bargain price! Took the display one rather than the unopened boxed option for less than half price!
