Any Wedge owners in central Scotland?
Discussion
Hello all Wedge owners! I'm looking to see if there is anyone close to Hamilton/Motherwell area (Scotland) who would let me come around for an take a look at their Wedge. This year I'm wanting to get a soft top and I'm torn between another Spider or going down the Wedge route. What I would like to do is see a Wedge in the flesh and hopefully this will make the decision for me. Trouble is they appear to be far and few between up here and looking at pictures and vids is not quite the same experience. I'd be looking for a 400SE as my ideal car.
So, any kind persons up for an invitation?
Regards Andy

Hi Andy There are also a couple of the fixed head (more suited to the Scottish weather types ) I have a 350FHC in Edinburgh area and Big Daft Lad has a 2.0l converted to 2.8 Tasmim in Gordon area. There is also a very tidy 350 convertable in the Stirling area, and a couple of 350's in Glasgow area. Also there are two 450 SE Glasgow and Stirling area and (one possibly for sale) and a SEAC in the area so there is a large selection in the central area. You should try and come to the Club meeting normally first Sunday of the month at Menstrie but just happens to be on this Sunday !!
Thanks for the replies. I'm over in Blackwood so quite close to Lanark & Motherwell, with Motherwell being the easiest to get to, so I'll take John up on his offer for the moment and see how it goes from there.
Hopefully the idea of the Wedge will win out as this will probably be the more enjoyable at the end of the day. I think I'm just a bit hesitant with the prospect of owning two TVRs and the potential for running/repairing costs wiping me out, or never leaving the garage and actually using them .

I was wanting to get my Cerb fully on the road before visiting and of the meetings, but since moving house it has gone on the back burner for the moment. I'm keeping an eye on the ads at the moment just to get a feel of prices and availability at the mo, but if someone is selling soon then I'd be interested in the details. Regards Andy.A previous owner of my car was John Beveridge who runs a company (SPDS) in East Kilbride; I met him a few years ago and he had a gold 400SE then, never seen him on here so don't know if he still has it.
Edit: Hey J.B.R, I see we're in the same industry

You'll find that the Wedge will be cheaper to run than the cerb as you can obtain a lot of spares from scrappies depending on what car the parts are from.
There's also a few suppliers out there for 2nd hand parts as well.

Hi wedg1e, so you're involved on NDT as well?
Usually stands for nothing done today!
Work for a well-known NDT supply and service company, primarily as an x-ray service techie... will be up in Scotland next week installing new radiation alarms and interlocks to a bay in Invergordon.Usually stands for nothing done today!

Keep checking the weather Ian, you never know with the weather up here at least you wont have to worry about the salt [there isnt any] just loads of grit to chip the paint work.
john.
Last time a couple of our guys were up there it wasn't the weather that held them up, it was being parked for three hours on the A9 while a crash victim was airlifted out of a field... john.

Believe there a few NDT type companies in Invergordon too, usually rig type though.
I lead the inspection dept in a nuclear power station, where the NDT is very critical, unlike TVR where NDT really did stand for nothing done today

Hi Andy,
Thanks for the heads up, it went straight into my spam folder so I didn't see it.
I'll give you a buzz tomorrow for a chat.
Lesson for today:- check spam folder more often! Missed some e-mails from the TVR club, and I've come into an inheritance from South Africa of several millions
Cheers

I've worked at Sellafield and Dounreay, with all the paperwork to fill in and quarantine of tools etc. it's a wonder you DO get anything done. I resurrected the real-time x-ray on the fuel rod reprocessing line at Dounreay, it was the easiest part of the 10-year-dormant line to get back into action. The hot cells are still so hot (from bits of dropped fuel), last I heard they were having to design robots to go in and fix the articulated arms. Just for me to go into the x-ray cell they had to manhandle 9 tons of lead (so they said) into place to shield me - and even then my monitor was cackling like a witches convention
